The silence and emptiness are the protagonists of this Saturday in San Miguel de Abona, a municipality in which 20,000 people were expected to attend the reggaeton beach festival. The event was definitively canceled yesterday, leaving a desert panorama in the area, a crossing of accusations between the City Council and the organization Already thousands of victims waiting for the reimbursement of their tickets.

And it is that, after several days of negotiations with the City Council of San Miguel de Abona (Tenerife), the organization of the reggaeton beach festival communicated yesterday that this event was finally canceled due to “the animosity” to the festival by the consistory.

The celebration of the Reggaeton Beach Festival was scheduled for this Saturday at the Amarilla Golf, in the south of Tenerife, and 20,000 tickets had been sold that the organization has announced that it will reimburse.

The organizers of the Reggaeton Beach Festival have reported in a statement published on social networks that “after learning that the City Council of San Miguel de Abona has allowed mass events to take place on several occasions without the corresponding license, we see clearly that they have acted in bad faith by filtering technical reports with erroneous information”.

In addition, they have indicated that “it was not until three days ago when, surprisingly, without prior notice or time to correct possible deficiencies, the council closed the file alleging that documentation was missing.”

The City Council announced last Thursday that it disallowed the celebration of the festival “because the security measures and the documentation presented by the organization do not meet the necessary requirements.”

However, RBF Canarias has stated that it was the organization itself that detected “irregularities in the processing of the file by the town council and the Local Police”, for which they tried to “start a new urgent file so that in 24 hours we could obtain the corresponding license.

From the promoter company regaetton beach festival They have also stated that at all times during the negotiations they were “absolutely convinced” that the situation was going to be resolved and that the meeting was going to be held as planned.

But finally, the City Council of San Miguel de Abona has decreed that the show does not meet the necessary safety standards for its performance, a fact that “surprises us, because we should have obtained the permits, as has normally happened in all the events that we have done to date”, they have indicated from RBF.

“As of July 29, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. we still had not received the resolution of the file, so we have been forced to make the very difficult decision to cancel it, since a few hours after the event we have received an unfavorable response from the mayor ”, exposed the members of RBF last night.

Reimbursement to those affected by the cancellation of the Reggaeton Beach Festival

The Reggaeton Beach Festival has held more than 20 editions throughout the national territory and for this occasion in Tenerife 20,000 tickets had been sold, an amount that will be reimbursed, as announced by the organizers.

Likewise, the company promoting the festival has advanced that “it reserves the right to exercise the corresponding actions, both civil and criminal, for the damages caused both to the organization of the event and to third parties.”
