SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Socialist Secretary General and President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has pointed out that the recognition he receives in every corner of the Archipelago he visits, from the citizens who approach him, is also a recognition of the Socialist Party in all the islands.
“The recognition that I receive is the recognition of the PSOE Canarias. People are seeing a government of flesh and blood, which has not had it easy but has always been there, showing its face”, Torres said this Saturday during his speech at the 14th Congress of Gomeran Socialists, in which the re-elected island secretary, Ángel Fariña, presented his new island executive commission.
The Congress, held at the San Sebastián de La Gomera Visitors’ Centre, has also had the participation of the Socialist Deputy Secretary and Minister of the Government of the Canary Islands, Elena Máñez, who has intervened in the closing ceremony.
The representation of the regional Executive was completed by Manuel Fumero (attached to Organization), Manuel Ramón Plasencia (mayor of Alajeró) and Ventura del Carmen Rodríguez (regional deputy). The Organization secretary, Nira Fierro, has been absent this time due to a last minute indisposition.
Torres had words of special thanks for the party’s militants in La Gomera: “This island is what it is thanks also to the Socialist Party and history will not be able to change that.” And he has referred to his legislature commitment: “The Canary Islands are better today than the one we received in 2019. It is not a promise, it is already a reality.”
The socialist general secretary has reviewed the progress made in dependency, health, education, housing, scholarships and aid to the primary sector, and has especially celebrated the data on employment and tourist occupation that the Canary Islands currently present.
He has called for “unity” and “mobilization” of the organization in all the islands to face the final stretch of these difficult years of government with guarantees, since the objective for the next electoral appointment must be “to consolidate the numbers obtained” and, If possible, “increase” that citizen support. “The Canary Islands continue to need us in the Government”, he said
