Starting this Saturday, July 30, the Farmer’s and Artisan Market of Tegueste will have its first stand of fresh fish from artisanal capture and other sea products, thanks to the agreement reached by the City Council, the Market Association and the Fishermen’s Association of La Punta del Hidalgo. The mayor, Ana Rosa Mena, explains that the agreement represents “a milestone” for the municipality and comes “to fulfill a wish of the neighbors, neighbors and visitors, who will finally be able to count on local sea products.” The stall is called La Lonja del Mercado de Tegueste.
Tomorrow and on Sunday, the Farmer’s and Artisan’s Market will host some conferences dedicated to sustainable fishing coinciding with the inauguration of the fresh fish stand. There will be talks, showcookings with tastings and, in parallel, there will be a gastronomic space with tapas and wine tasting commented by chefs.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Julián Rodríguez, explains that the launch of the fish market will be used to value artisanal fishing and its contribution to the sustainability of the planet, as well as give clues about the role of fish in a balanced diet, among other issues. The conference will begin tomorrow at 11:00 am, with the inauguration of the fish stall. On Sunday there will be workshops, talks and showcooking between 10:30 and 12:00.
This improvement in the Tegueste market comes after the complete renovation of the children’s play areas of the enclosure. According to the Councilor for Local Development, Manuel Martín, work is being done to renew the services that the Market has, “improvements that reinforce its suitability for acquiring fresh and local products, since with the installation of these children’s modules the smallest They can enjoy while the adults do their shopping.
