The Tejina festivities in honor of San Bartolomé begin their 2022 edition with the return to normality of all its acts and main celebrations, such as the traditional offering of hearts to its patron saint or popular festivals such as the pamela or water festival. . This was confirmed yesterday by the Councilor for Festivities of the City Council of La Laguna, Badel Albelo, who stressed that “the Tejina festivities are back in all their splendor.”
The poster of the festivities was presented last Saturday and this Sunday the traditional outing of San Bartolomé will take place at the door of the church, with the launch of the 24 thunders from the Tejinetilla and the lighting of the Heart of lights. And already on August 1, the reading of the proclamation will be held, by Dailos González, in the parish.
After this start, the most popular acts of the festivities will take place, as stated in the program prepared by the Festival Commission, on August 7 with the celebration of the water festival, in the church square at 2:30 p.m. . Meanwhile, on the 15th it will be the verbena de la pamela, at 3:00 p.m. in the same place.
The big day of the festivities will arrive on Sunday August 28 with the entrance of the emblematic hearts to the church square and the offering to Saint Bartholomew and, at night, the celebration of the XXXII Festival of Exaltation of the Hearts. Meanwhile, the act of picking up the hearts will take place on August 29, at 6:30 p.m.
Even so, the program includes, until next September 4, multiple activities for all ages, musical performances, festivals and processions, among other acts. “We are extremely happy to meet again in a town like Tejina,” said the Councilor for Fiestas, who stressed that “the programming that has been worked on together with the Fiestas Commission will be up to the task”, with the performances, among others, from “Kike Pérez, Soul Sanet, Bohemia de Lanzarote… It’s going to be a lap in style”.

Likewise, the 8th Dissemination Conference on the History of Tejina also returns to the festivities, which will start next Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Teatro Unión Tejina, with a conference by Yeray Rodríguez Quintana, entitled La décima: papel y wind. Five centuries that give for two lives.
The industrial heritage in the Northeast Region, the landscape, the origin of the surname Cairós, research on the Northeast Region and the sacred space of Pico Bermejo are some of the issues that will be addressed in the rest of the presentations, which will take place in the Citizen Center of Tejina, until next August 5, when it will conclude with a round table.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, highlighted the value of these presentations “to spread and preserve the history of the tejinero people” and celebrated their continuity over time until reaching its eighth edition. The local councilor stressed that from the City Council “we will continue to support initiatives like this, because, without a doubt, it contributes to maintaining and transmitting our heritage and culture.”
