The Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife begins the works for the construction of a new direct lane in the link between La Vera and the TF-5, in the municipality of La Orotava, in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The high number of vehicles that circulate in this area, especially during peak hours and the congestion and slowdown in traffic that they generate, pose a safety problem for road users.
The First Vice President and Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “this new lane, which begins to be built at the beginning of August, will allow direct access to vehicles leaving the annexed shopping center and the towns of La Vera, La Luz and La Montañeta, contributing to the fluidity of circulation”.
Likewise, it stresses that “from the Cabildo similar actions are being carried out throughout the insular geography with the aim of improving circulation and making traffic more agile in the most conflictive points.”
Arriaga details that “the surroundings of the La Vera link have a daily intensity of more than 50,000 vehicles, while the other two roads that lead to the link, the TF-333 and the TF-320, have intensities of more than 10,000 vehicles per day. , according to the latest data extracted from the 2020 capacity campaign, carried out by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife”.
For his part, the insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, clarifies that “the new lane will have a width of 3.50 meters, plus a 0.50-meter hard shoulder, and will allow direct access from the shopping center to the TF-5, speeding up the movements of vehicles through the link”.
It also states that for the execution of the works, occupation of the interior road of the polygon will be required, where signalmen will be employed when this is necessary for the smooth flow of traffic.
The execution of the works will have a period of three months and a budget of 42,147 euros.
