The City Council of San Miguel de Abona, in Tenerife, has denied permission to organize the Reggaeton Beach Festival 2022, scheduled for this Saturday at Amarilla Golf with the presence of some 20,000 people. A decree signed by the mayor, Arturo González, on Tuesday bases the decision in detail. It is based on the lack of documentation by the organizers and unfavorable technical reports from the urban and security fields. The City Council confirmed that yesterday the concert was still suspended.
The reason for the suspension of the concert that had almost all the 20,000 tickets sold is in the “deficiencies detected” by the City Council, “both in the required documentation and in the mandatory action protocols.”
There are three fundamental aspects in which the organization has not complied, according to the criteria on which the local administration bases itself to grant the permit. In the first place, the lack of general documentation and what is called sectoral. In this last aspect, it is worth highlighting the one that refers to the one necessary for the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), in charge of the safety of civil aviation in Spain. The reason for this requirement is the proximity of the place where the festival is to be held to Tenerife Sur Airport.
Secondly, There is no correspondence, always according to these sources, between the capacity, some 20,000 people in the planned space of 42,000 square meterss, and the evacuation capacity referred to in documents.
In third placeanother key factor is that the Road Safety Plan to be developed to respond to this huge volume of expected attendees requires the presence of a number of agents of the authority that neither the municipality has nor, in principle, other security forces can provide. San Miguel establishes a minimum of 25 troops to guarantee traffic control and security.
The decree specifies unfavorable reports from the Local Police and Civil Protection to the celebration of the event, some of them raised since the month of May. For the organizers, not holding the concert will mean losses of around one and a half million euros.
