The Cabildo, through the Territorial Planning and Historical Heritage area, meets with the island’s town councils to present the content and main novelties of the Insular Historical Heritage Plan, and coordinate the joint lines of action aimed at guaranteeing conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of heritage assets.
Among the novelties, the insular director of Territory Planning and Historical Heritage, Emilio Fariña, announced that “the search for pockets of land is being coordinated with the town councils to be able to enable new car parks that help decongest traffic in historical complexes”. “This is an outstanding action within the Plan with which we want to improve accessibility in the historic areas of the Island”, he pointed out.
Emilio Fariña added that the Cabildo is facilitating the active participation of the municipalities, “with whom we have started a round of work meetings to present the main lines of action that are included in the Plan, which will be in force from 2023 to 2026, and to know the needs they have in relation to the protection of their patrimonial assets, in order to take them into account when designing the budgets of the Insular Corporation for the coming year”.
The Plan also contemplates reinforcing the collaboration with the Diocese of Nivariense of the Bishopric of Tenerife for the rehabilitation of immovable property owned by the Church, through agreements.
In parallel, the Historical Heritage area is working on the processing of an Insular Catalog of Patrimonial Assets, for the development of which a contract for an expert technical team will be put out to tender, which will work in coordination with the Historical Heritage area, with in order to assess the importance of real estate with heritage value likely to be included in said instrument.
In addition, from the Insular Directorate, collaboration is offered to the municipalities to update and approve the municipal catalogs, as well as to carry out the drafting and approval of the Special Plans for the Protection of Historic Ensembles.
