During the months of July and August, the Quirónsalud Tenerife Hospital will donate a total of 568 solidarity menus for young people in vulnerable situations in collaboration with the Don Bosco Foundation and the Municipal Institute of Social Care (IMAS) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
To find out about this and other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects promoted by the hospital, the councilor for Social Action and president of the IMAS, Rosario González, and the representative of the Don Bosco Foundation, José Luis Aguirre, visited the facilities of Quirónsalud Tenerife, where they were received by their manager, Clara Méndez.
For the third consecutive year, Quirónsalud renews its commitment to associations and public bodies that work to alleviate the situation of people without resources. Although in previous editions, the aid was intended for families living in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on this occasion, the beneficiaries of this action are young people with difficulties. The menus, prepared by the hospital’s expert nutritionists, are made up of a first and second course, dessert, water and bread.
Don Bosco is an entity specialized in working with young people. It carries out social and educational accompaniment with this group, while managing two flats for homeless youth or in situations of high vulnerability with capacity for five people each, financed by the IMAS.
Quirónsalud is the leading hospital group in Spain and, together with its parent company Fresenius-Helios, also in Europe, according to data from the group itself. In addition to its activity in Spain, Quirónsalud is also present in Latin America, particularly in Colombia and Peru. Together, it has more than 45,000 professionals in more than 160 health centers, including 55 hospitals with approximately 8,000 hospital beds. It has advanced technology and a great team of highly specialized professionals of international prestige. Its centers include the Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital, Teknon Medical Center, Ruber Internacional, Quirónsalud Madrid University Hospital, Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital, Dexeus University Hospital, Gipuzkoa Polyclinic, General University Hospital of Catalonia, Quirónsalud Sagrado Corazón Hospital, etc.
The Group works to promote teaching (nine of its hospitals are university hospitals) and medical-scientific research (it has the FJD Health Research Institute, accredited by the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation).
Likewise, its care service is organized into transversal units and networks that allow optimization of the experience accumulated in the different centers and the clinical translation of its research. Currently, Quirónsalud is developing a multitude of research projects throughout Spain and many of its centers carry out cutting-edge work in this field, being pioneers in different specialties such as oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, gynecology and neurology, among others.
