The Forest fire of The Realejosin Tenerife, is still at level 2, active, and the news this Monday is that it has entered the stabilization phase. This was explained by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, at a press conference after the technical meeting held this morning. “It does not mean that it is controlled, only that it has not advanced and that the perimeter remains the same (27 kilometers)”, he has detailed.

The affected hectares remain the same as this Sunday, 2,700, and there are still three active outbreaks: Tigaiga (Los Realejos), Icod de los Vinos and on the borders of the Teide National Park.
Torres has indicated that it is a fire with “a serious environmental condition” because it is burning a mountain area, and the points of most concern are the Teide National Park and the Tigaiga area (Los Realejos), because it is a wall almost vertical in which only aerial means can act and it is even “dangerous”, due to the fall of hot rocks to lower levels.
The president has announced that on this day the possible return to their homes of the almost 600 evacuated people will be assessed. “Today is the evaluation and observation phase”, he has clarified.
This meeting was also attended by the president of the Island Council of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, representatives of the affected municipalities, State security forces and bodies, commanders of the General Corps of the Canarian Police, Security and Emergency technicians of the Government, of the Council insular, Brifor and UME, among others.
Regarding the weather, Torres has stated that the alert for the risk of forest fires is maintained on all the islands, and that the entire archipelago is on pre-alert for high temperatures, except for Gran Canaria, which is on alert. Humidity will remain low until Wednesday, making it difficult to extinguish the fire, which affects four Tenerife municipalities: San Juan de la Rambla, La Guancha, Icod de los Vinos and Los Realejos.
This Sunday, 168 people worked on the ground device and twelve aerial means.
The president has also indicated that the origin of this fire is being investigated, which could be intentional, since in the same area, within a week, there were two other attempts just ten days ago. In addition, it is likely that during the day the authorities will be able to access the point where the fire started to collect information that clarifies how it started.
Monserrat Román, head of the Emergency Service of the Government of the Canary Islands, recalled that the fire is still spreading, since there are points where it can be reactivated, and added that the weather remains complicated for this Monday and Tuesday.
Pedro Martínez, head of the technical service of the Cabildo de Tenerife, has commented that there are “many” hot spots in the interior, with “a lot” of forest mass that possibly has not burned, and has added that what is needed is to consolidate the lines established against the fire.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, recalled that the prohibition of carrying out any activity in the mountains of the entire island continues, and explained that last night it was necessary to activate a rescue device because three hikers did not respect the prohibition.
