The Tenerife fire that last Thursday began in the north of the island, and that it was probably provoked, has entered a stabilization phase, the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, said this Monday, after the technical coordination meeting of the means of extinction .

Ángel Víctor Torres has insisted that considering the fire as stabilized means that after last night’s work the affected hectares have not increased, 2,700, nor the perimeter, 27 kilometres.

The fire started in the area of Los Campeches, in the municipality of The Realejosand the flames also affect the municipalities of San Juan de la Rambla, Icod de los Vinos and La Guancha.

Regarding its origin, Ángel Víctor Torres has pointed out that it is possible that the technicians will be able to access the point where the fire started this Monday.

The president of the Canary Islands has declared that the fire remains at alert level 2, and has insisted that stabilization does not mean that the fire cannot be reactivated.

Words that have been emphasized by Pedro Martínez, head of the technical service of the Cabildo de Tenerife, who has recognized that stabilization is a positive phase, but that does not mean that everything moves forward, since reactivations can occur.

The points that are most worrying now are those in the Teide National Park area, where the environmental damage would be significant, and in Tigaiga where, Pedro Martínez has specified, it is “very dangerous” to act because it is almost vertical.

The presidents of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, have indicated that this Monday morning there will be a meeting to evaluate the possibility of people who have been evacuated or evicted from areas returning to their homes. close to the fire.

Ángel Víctor Torres has highlighted that the high temperatures will remain until Wednesday in all the islands, where the humidity will also remain low, and the only thing that will not be negative will be the wind.

The president of the Canary Islands has also declared that 168 people work on land directly against the fire, against which 12 means are fighting from the air, two of which are seaplanes, and has commented that during Sunday more than 1.1 million liters of water.

Monserrat Román, head of the Emergency Service of the Government of the Canary Islands, recalled that the fire is still spreading, since there are points where it can be reactivated, and added that the weather remains complicated for this Monday and Tuesday.

Pedro Martínez, head of the technical service of the Cabildo de Tenerife, has commented that there are “many” hot spots in the interior, with “a lot” of forest mass that possibly has not burned, and has added that what is needed is to consolidate the lines established against the fire.

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, recalled that the prohibition of carrying out any activity in the mountains of the entire island continues, and explained that last night it was necessary to activate a rescue device because three hikers did not respect the prohibition.

One of those people was unwell and it was necessary to divert resources to solve the problem.
