SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 (EUROPA PRESS)

Approximately 57 homes are being evacuated in the municipality of Los Realejos and La Orotava due to the fact that the fire declared last Thursday, which already affects four municipalities, is entering the Valle de La Orotava through the Chanajiga area.

Specifically, the evacuation affects the Las Llanadas area, from the Chanajiga recreational area to the upper area of Las Llanadas (not the nucleus) and the Palo Blanco ravine, in Los Realejos. The evacuation affects about 50 homes. Likewise, in La Orotava, a preventive evacuation of the La Florida area is being carried out, which affects seven other homes.

The Las Llanadas Sports Center has been set up as a provisional meeting point for the relocation of the affected people. At the moment it is unknown how many have had to be evacuated.

The Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, has informed in statements to the media that they are evacuations that are intended to ensure that neither the fire nor the extinction work cause damage and inconvenience to the neighbors, and not because at this time there is an imminent danger to housing.

Julio Pérez has asked the people who are being evacuated to follow the instructions of the security forces and bodies and to take essential things from their homes, such as documentation, telephones, chargers and pets.

On the other hand, he has indicated that at the moment there are between 160 and 200 people working on the extinction work from the western to the eastern end of the fire and from the closest to the furthest part of the summit, where the UME has been working. because it is an area of difficult orography. Likewise, a seaplane is operating and it is expected that another one will be added throughout the afternoon.
