With a sweet and sour taste. The North Tenerife firee is still active and has burned between 800 and 1,000 hectares in the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla and La Guancha. In the afternoon, the change of wind made the secondary front become the main one and it returned through the unburned area towards Los Realejos, reaching the vicinity of the Teide National Park, specifically La Fortaleza.

The Security Councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, pointed out that there is a “contradictory” feeling of the extinction teams, because the flames do not advance towards inhabited areas but they do run strongly towards the summit and the national park.

The work during the night was satisfactory, the prevention work and some backfire allowed the flames to be moved away from the populated areas; The area affected was estimated at 9:00 am at 500 hectares, with a perimeter of 11 kilometers, and affects the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha.

With the control of the right front towards La Guancha almost slowed down, it was not so positive that the wind turned sharply to the East at 4:00 p.m. and the flames rose through the San Juan ravine, where it was very difficult to attack, skirting the forest crown returning again in the direction of the Orotava Valley through the unburned area, and ascending the Tigaiga slope towards the Teide National Park.

It is insisted that we must take advantage of today’s night and day to control the fire, given that the weather conditions will improve until temperatures rise again tomorrow. This situation will cause the 150 troops actively working on control tasks to be divided into different objectives.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, was “satisfied”, because the fire has been contained in the west and has not reached Icod, and reported that a defense firewall is being prepared so that it does not reach La Orotava. “Right now, the fire can only go up to Teide” and he trusts that “the wind will carry the fire to burned places”.
