A total of 585 people have been preventively evicted from their homes due to the advance of the forest fire that broke out on the island of Tenerife last Thursday and that already affects five municipalities: La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla , La Guancha and Icod de los Vinos.
Specifically, around 57 homes located in Las Arenitas, Cruz del Castaño and the Chanajiga area, in Los Realejos, and on Orégano street, in La Orotava, have been evacuated. Most of those affected have been rehoused in the homes of friends and hotels and two sports centers with enough beds for affected people have also been set up.

Ángel Víctor Torres has detailed that the area affected is 2,156 hectares, with a perimeter of 20 kilometres, so the progress of the fire has been less thanks to the weather conditions and the work carried out by the media. extinction. However, the president insisted that more than a thousand people had to be evacuated because there was a risk that the fire would spread to scattered population centers, especially in the municipality of La Orotava, although there are no homes affected. .
