The Canary Coalition in Tenerife presented on the last day of the term – yesterday, July 22 – ten allegations, which include 61 proposals, to the draft of the Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of the Teide National Park. The goal is to “demand their withdrawal” and start from scratch “with real participation.”

The nationalists, through their insular secretary of Organization, Rosa Dávila, and Carlos Alonso, spokesman in the Cabildo, registered these initiatives that are “the result of many meetings with groups and experts.”

CC denounces that the “PSOE” document is “riddled with methodological and procedural errors, in addition to presenting very serious technical, scientific and environmental deficiencies.”

Coalition values the “coordination” of the party on the Island to maintain the same discourse although with nuances. “In contrast to the PSOE -they argue- since the insular has amended the plan to the regional Council.” They affirm it because «their allegations occupy more than 200 pages compared to the 60 of the document. An amendment to the whole.

Canarian Coalition of Tenerife links the PRUG draft with “a plan with which the PSOE intends to steal Teide from the people of Tenerife through a document made behind the backs of the citizens and full of errors.”

The intention of the allegations is that “the use and management of the park be regulated, guaranteeing the integrity of its values and making the conservation of the space compatible with traditional uses, with respectful and informed public use and with economic development”

These proposals, as explained by Dávila, are the result of “dozens of meetings with numerous groups.” He underlines: «The Teide is a World Heritage Site, but, above all, of the people of Tenerife. They want it to be more environmentally friendly and, at the same time, they want to continue enjoying it in an orderly, informed, respectful and committed way ».

For his part, Carlos Alonso explained that this document “has very serious technical deficiencies, has been developed without an effective guarantee of citizen participation and pursues a management model riddled with inconsistencies, lacking regulatory justification and with numerous unfounded prohibitions.”

The nationalist proposals are aimed at the compatibility of sports activities in public use. Also of the traditional ones of beekeeping and hunting, as well as the authorization of an eco-environmental mountain lodge, the actions of the audiovisual and cultural sector, those of visits and their tourist use, and the distinction between the two, as well as surveillance, security , control and universal accessibility.
