The Council of Tenerife informs this Friday that the route of the Masca ravine will remain closed during the weekend due to high temperatures, which could exceed 36 degrees, according to forecasts.
The Minister of Management of the Natural Environment and Safety, Isabel García, recalls in a note that “it is a very physically demanding route, so the expected high temperatures would pose a risk to visitors.”
The insular official also emphasizes that, “given the possibility that rescues have to be made”, they do not want to occupy resources “and that the work of extinction of the fire in the north of the island“.
Isabel García also recalls that access is prohibited, both on foot and by any other means, to the public forests in the area of the Corona Forestal Natural Park in the municipalities of La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla, La Guancha and Icod de Los Vinos.
The extraordinary measures activated last Wednesday for the prevention of forest fires in the rest of the island territory are also still in force.
Therefore, the prohibition of the cultural and recreational use of fire (agricultural and forest burning, barbecues, bonfires), of machinery that can generate sparks and of any pyrotechnic material is maintained.
