Just over 500 hectares affected and a perimeter of eleven kilometers. That is the current situation of fire declared yesterday Thursday in Tenerife and that already involves three municipalities on the island: Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla and La Guancha. To “attack” it, as explained by the president of the Canary Islands GovernmentÁngel Víctor Torres, the next 48 hours are essential “before the weather situation worsens next Sunday”.
Following the meeting earlier today of the technical meeting on the extinction of the flamesthe leader of the Executive indicated that there are two fronts that most concern the team fighting the fire: the San Juan ravine and the right flank in Los Realejos, where different hot spots are still located.
It is in these areas where it is expected concentrate tasks throughout the dayalthough as Torres admitted “the situation today will continue to be complicated and at least an improvement is expected from tonight”.
The evaluation of the morning is positive, although lThe works are focused on the right flank, where the UME and the Cabildo media are, carrying out widening fires supported by tracks. The upper part of the San Juan ravine is also worrying, where it is not possible to act with land means. That’s where the ddownloads of aerial means because the beds of three small ravines that feed that larger ravine are burning.
towerswho insisted that “the fire is not controlled and is still active”, indicated that the forecasts in terms of time allow us to think that “it is possible to start controlling the fire but we have to be cautious.”
The President of the Government refers to the weather forecast data:temperatures will be below 30 degrees, the wind drops a bit and the humidity is still below 30%.
In the first eight hours, the fire affected about 110 hectares. Between 6:00 p.m. yesterday and 9:00 a.m. today, it has spread over some 390 more hectares, especially towards the forest crown and to the west (in the direction of La Guancha).
The head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Response Service of the Government of the Canary Islands, Monserrat Román, explained that the drones used by the Cabildo de Tenerife to control forest fires have detected that the fire is reaching the summit and cooling down.
evacuations
Monserrat Román assured that at the moment no more evacuations are expected than those carried out yesterday preventively in some mountain areas, but admitted that there are families who have decided to leave their homes overnight. “The affected town councils have enabled provisional accommodation spaces but they have not been necessary,” added Torres.
In addition, he specified that there have been no reports of farms or spaces for animals in which they have had to intervene to rescue them. In fact, most of the area affected by the fire is public forest “and some private estates”, said the president of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Without evictions and without homes affected by the fire, the main incidence of these flames on the population is now in San Juan de La Rambla, a municipality in which Some 40 houses suffer from the cut off of the water supply.
According to the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Peter Martin, “one of the channels that feeds the Los Cuchillos deposit has been affected by the fire and until the security conditions are guaranteed, the area cannot be accessed to repair it.” “An interim solution is being worked on,” he added.

The point where the flames originated has been identified, according to Montserrat Román, but not the reason that caused it. In this regard, Torres explained “about whether it is intentional or not that the corresponding investigation has already been initiated, but it is true that a few days ago an attempt was made in a similar area, at the confluence of forest tracks.”
