SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has issued a resolution suspending all activities in forest areas and prohibiting access, both on foot and by any other means, to the mountains of the entire island, due to the alert decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands and the emergency situation due to forest fires and the meteorological circumstances forecast for these days
In addition, while this resolution is active, the use of the network of recreational and camping areas is prohibited, which become closed.
Sports and leisure activities, the use of fireworks, the use of machinery that can produce sparks, circulation with motor vehicles and hunting activity are also prohibited, the corporation details in a note.
The Minister of Management of the Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García, recalls that this weekend there will be a new episode of heat in which temperatures above 36 degrees are expected, for which she makes “a call for responsibility so that new outbreaks or alarms occur at a time of extreme weather sensitivity” when, in addition, all available resources are concentrated on the control and extinction of the fire that affects the municipalities of Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla and La Guancha.
According to this resolution, the prohibition of the cultural use of fire (prescribed agricultural and forest burning, stubble, scrub, waste) and recreational use (barbecues, bonfires, campfires and gas stoves, among others) is maintained, which was already valid since last Wednesday.
From the Cabildo it is recommended, in this sense, to take extreme precautions with any activity that can generate fires (tobacco, use of generators, electrical and pyrotechnic material).
The island corporation already issued a resolution this Thursday that temporarily prohibited access to public forests in the area of the Corona Forestal Natural Park of La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de La Rambla, La Guancha and Icod de The wines.
This Friday’s resolution extends this ban to all municipalities on the island.
