A project aims to eradicate the humidity of the Municipal Market

The Department of Works and Services of the Tacoronte City Council has commissioned the drafting of a project in order to execute a series of works with which to solve the problems of humidity due to rainwater filtrations that the Municipal Market building has been suffering from for years .

Specifically, the action is focused on correcting the waterproofing of the roof of the municipally owned shopping center, whose lack of systematic maintenance in recent mandates has caused damage to other aspects related to equipment and facilities.

In this sense, the responsible councilor, Antonio Gil Goyapointed out that “we intend to correct something that should have been done years ago, since the entry of water through the cracks in the roof has also influenced the weakness of the walls on the lower floors.”

The Government Group will take to plenary this action in a property that represents an essential value in the economic and social life of the municipality. The improvement actions will affect the roofs, with the replacement of the roofs of the main access ramp and that of the entrance to the garages, as well as the waterproofing of the upper plaza, undertaking different substitutions and completing the painting work on all dependencies, a planning that will represent an economic investment whose amount will amount to a total of 170,000 euros.

The technical report acknowledges that the damage caused as a result of the use of the facilities and the leaks that occur on the fifth floor of the building are evident. Specifically, on the ground floor of the roof area, where the square is located where several stalls are established, most of them currently inactive, with some damage that, according to the report, affects the premises located in the fourth floor of the same and the parking floors of the building.
