An outbreak of fire has been declared in Los Realejosas confirmed by the Cabildo de Tenerife on the morning of this Thursday, July 21.

At the place of origin of the flames, in the area of The Campechesfire control and extinguishing personnel are already working, among whom are members of the insular brifor.

In addition, according to municipal sources, in the aforementioned enclave of the Forest Crown there are also firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium of the La Orotava park, volunteer firefighters from Los Realejos, Local Police, National Police, Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard and Civil Protection volunteers of the area.

Right now, the flames advance in the direction of the mountain and, for now, the fire is far from inhabited houses.

This fire is recorded a relatively short distance from the one detected last Friday on the Lolita track, in the Icod El Alto area, also in the municipality of Los Realejos.

fire risk

The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands decreed since yesterday, at 10:00 a.m., the alert for the risk of forest fires in El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, in view of the forecasts of the Aemet . Councils and municipalities have closed recreational areas until the end of the fire risk situation. Thus, the Cabildo de Tenerife calls for responsibility and avoid risky behavior, especially in park, pre-park and mid-level areas. For this reason, it is recommended to reduce traffic through mountain areas, forest tracks and trails far from the dorsal road, since they will be the spaces in which the highest risk conditions occur. Likewise, the prohibition of making fire and the handling of machinery in risk areas is recalled. The Cabildo of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, for its part, has also closed a large part of the island’s network of trails, recreational areas and hunting is prohibited.
