SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands authorized this Thursday the multi-year expenditure of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce to finance promotional activities of the ‘Canary Islands, Latitude of Life’ brand through the Canarian sports clubs for the years 2022, 2023 , 2024 and 2025.
The purpose of this budget, which for the 2022-2023 season will add a joint contribution of 3,050,000 euros, is to make the Canary Islands known as a tourist destination through professional football and basketball teams such as: Unión Deportiva Las Palmas ( 1,000,000 euros) Club Deportivo Tenerife (1,000,000 euros), Club de Baloncesto Gran Canaria (400,000 euros), Cantera Base 1939 Canarias (400,000 euros) and Club Deportivo Akeki de Tenerife (250,000 euros).
With this authorization, the Governing Council approves the promotion of the Canary Islands through advertising sponsorships with the professional Canarian football and basketball teams, during the next four sports seasons, since they participate in sports and professional leagues with great media impact, generating, through this promotional activity an advertising return on investment made.
With this, the Ministry intends to publicize the ‘Canary Islands’ brand not only for tourism promotion but also in sports actions or projects with a social, ethical or environmental content through the sports activity of the Canarian clubs, also adding to this initiative the honor division women’s football team UD Granadilla Tenerife.
