SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 20. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The public hospitals of the Canary Islands Health Service, within the framework of the Aborda Plan, have carried out 38,615 surgical interventions between January and May of this year, which represents an increase of almost 1 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
As for ordinary Outpatient Major Surgery interventions, in the first five months of 2022, 15,021 were performed, that is, 6.16 percent more than the same period of the previous year.
The Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, reported this morning to the Health Commission of the Parliament of the Canary Islands that in these first months 1,267,929 consultations have been carried out, of which 25,093 were carried out outside normal working hours. In these five months, 316,212 complementary tests have also been carried out.
FORECAST FOR THE SUMMER
In addition, Blas Trujillo reported that the hiring of up to 1,700 reinforcement professionals from different categories is planned, among which are Nursing, Medicine, Nursing assistants, warders, etc.
Regarding the hiring of Nursing personnel, it will be governed by the current hiring lists and, in the event that said lists (official and supplementary) are exhausted, other measures will be adopted, such as the payment of overtime or the time compensation.
In this sense, he explained that in order to maintain the activity in the public hospitals of the SCS, hospital contingency plans have been drawn up for their activation in case of need, in which the structural and human resources and the actions to be carried out are established.
