SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE Canarias, Nira Fierro, has accused the Canarian Coalition of “muddying political life” in the Archipelago, with its attempt to involve President Ángel Víctor Torres and other regional government officials in the so-called ‘mask case’ , despite the fact that none of them appear in the investigation carried out by Anticorruption.
Fierro has pointed out that, contrary to what was affirmed this Tuesday by the nationalist deputy Díaz Estébanez, the document submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office to the Court investigating this case does not mention at any time the president of the Canary Islands, the counselor Julio Pérez nor the vice-counselor of Presidency, Antonio Olivera, who “were in charge of Health and the SCS, respectively, in the most complex moments of the health crisis”.
“This behavior is despicable. The Canarian Coalition is not here to teach any kind of lesson when it comes to public representatives who have some kind of issue with the Justice”, said the socialist leader, adding that “the only thing they want with this parallel trial is is to muddy the political life of the Canary Islands, something that we from the PSOE are not going to allow”.
Regarding the people cited as defendants by the prosecutor -the director of the Canary Health Service (SCS), Conrado Domínguez, and the director of Economic Services, Ana María Pérez-, the secretary of Socialist Organization has indicated that “the presumption of innocence”, but “collaborating with the Justice in the steps to be taken”, since “the ultimate purpose is to recover the money from the masks”.
Fierro has recalled that the procedures for the recovery of this money were initiated, by the SCS and the Tax Agency, “before the judicial investigation began”, and has insisted that the nationalist formation is not in a position to “give lessons anyone” in matters of management and justice.
