SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife will activate from this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. extraordinary measures of grade 1 for the prevention of forest fires, due to the alert decreed by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Therefore, and while this alert lasts, the cultural use of fire (prescribed agricultural and forest burning, stubble, scrub, waste…) and recreational use (barbecues, bonfires, campfires and gas stoves) are prohibited. , among others).
In the same way, the use of any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks (brushcutters, welding equipment or radial cutters) and the use of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas is suspended.
The Minister for Management of the Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García, calls for “prudence and common sense”, and recalls that “in the next few days the islands will record a heat episode where temperatures are expected between 34 and 36 degrees, which can lead to serious problems for our mountains if we are not responsible”.
From the Cabildo it is recommended, in this sense, to take extreme precautions with any activity that can generate fires (tobacco, use of generator sets, electrical and pyrotechnic material…) and the Forest Management Technical Service is ordered to establish the services necessary to deal with the risk situation.
