The City Council of La Orotava recently met the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents, chaired by the mayor, Francisco Linares (CC). This body, which was attended by representatives of the different political groups that make up the municipal corporation, included the participation of the boys and girls of the Child and Adolescent Participation Groupwho reported on the activities carried out in the first half of the year for the promotion of children’s rights in the municipality.
The minor representative of the CEIP Víctor Rodríguez Jiménez, Jackelin Donizreported on the project @conmivozmyrights that was carried out last school year in this educational center. This project is promoted by the organic unit of Childhood and Family of the IASS of the Island Council of Tenerife in collaboration with the city council to work on children’s rights.
The Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents was constituted in La Orotava in the year 2021 and is celebrated twice a year.
La Orotava received the recognition of child friendly city within the framework of the IX Call for Awards 2021-2025 granted by the body UNICEF. “This distinction confirms the municipal work, effort and commitment in this matter,” says Linares.
