The former president of CEOE-Tenerife has taken office this Tuesday as the new president of the Economic and Social Council (CES) in an act held at the Presidency of the Government and which has been chaired by the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres.
Francisco thanked the appointment and, after highlighting the great work done by the CES in recent years in its advisory work, indicated that he also intends to modernize it in order to continue improving the labor and economic laws of the future with reports based on the latest advances in digitization and agility.
He also thanked the trust of President Torres and the Minister of Economy, Elena Máñez, highlighted the trajectory of the rest of the members of the CES and promised to work for the greatest possible consensus in the different matters.
Likewise, he wished that the war in Ukraine would end as soon as possible, that inflation would be reduced and unemployment figures continue to fall in order to face the present and future economic and social conditions with maximum guarantees.
The Chief Executive stated that Francisco’s spirit of dialogue and search for agreement was evident in this legislature with obstacles of the dimensions of the COVID pandemic, when he was still chairing the CEOE-Tenerife, and demonstrated his “loyalty to the Government and ensured always for the general interest of the canaries and canaries to walk together in this tremendously difficult stage in which we have had to overcome different unforeseen adversities”.
Torres recalled the Advisory Council held on March 16, 2020, when “it was clear to us that we had to unite and face the only enemy facing us: the pandemic.”
The Canarian president congratulated the new president of the CES and assured that his extensive political and professional career supports him “in defending the interests of the islands”.
“That is why the Social Economic Council, its 18 members and alternates, are in very good hands with your presidency.”
The head of the Executive wished him luck and much success in the next four years, as well as the rest of the Economic and Social Council, “a fundamental, advisory and transparent entity, which will help us a lot in the remainder of the mandate and the next Government, since their reports are fundamental to correct things, to know the world in which we live and to make decisions for the good of society”.
