The Arona Town Hall has started the plan of maintenance and refurbishment works in the twelve municipal infant and primary education centers (CEIP) during the summer period. These are actions that are carried out every year with the aim of leaving them ready for the start of the school year during the month of September.
This week they are already under construction, or have completed the works, at the CEIP Óscar Domínguez (Arona), Valle San Lorenzo, Chayofa-La Camella, Cabo Blanco, Buzanada, Luis Álvarez Cruz (Las Galletas), Pérez de Valero (Los Christians), P.Beach of the Americas, Parque La Reina and Los Cristianos. In the next few days they will start in the remaining: The Star and the Friar.
The center of The Friar will be the one that this summer will also benefit from an in-depth reform, in the same way that in recent years it has been done in the Pérez de Valero de Los Cristianos, Valle San Lorenzo and Cabo Blanco.
The following actions are planned, all of them agreed with the educational communities: repair of cracks in courts and passageways, as well as painting of court pavements; cleaning of scuppers and repair of manholes; leak repair in different facilities; repair and painting of the ceilings and coverings of courts; paint on doors and walls; changes and improvements to playground pavements, roof cleaning and repair of window shutters. Also complete painting of facades, enclosures, walls or windowsamong other actions.
Modernization hand in hand with the educational community
Both Ruth Lorenzo, Councilor for Works, and the Mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, have pointed out, together with the head of Education, Julia Raquel Morales, that “these are works that the management teams and teachers demand from the City Council, as well as by the associations of mothers and fathers and, depending on the needs of each center, they range from masonry, painting or plumbing work to renovation of bathrooms or carpentry”. This morning the works have been visited in the CEIP Valle San Lorenzo, Cabo Blanco and Buzanada.
Although the town councils do not have competences in educational matters, they do have the obligation to maintain the facilities destined for the training of Infants and Primary, the area in which these works are located. In the case of Arona, beyond the work that is carried out every summer in all the centers, In recent years, the reform of the Pérez de Valero de Los Cristianos and the schools of Valle San Lorenzo (2018) and Cabo Blanco (2021) has been carried out..
