AENA launches an ambitious comprehensive remodeling project of the terminal area of the Tenerife South Airportwhich will be included in DORA III and which will entail an estimated initial investment of more than €300 millionas announced by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, last May during the inauguration of the largest expansion of the Airport to date.
This project will involve the integration of the entire airport terminal area, both from an architectural point of view and with the environment itself. Among the planned improvements, and pending the drafting of the final project, are the organization and execution of new car parks and accesses; review of urbanization and landscaping; the adequacy of the baggage claim room; the expansion of the check-in and boarding areas; or the incorporation of more commercial services.
Specifically, today The Project Drafting Technical Assistance files go out to tender (ATRP) and Technical Architecture Assistance (ATA) for the comprehensive remodeling of the terminal area, after its approval by the Aena Board of Directors, with an amount of 6.3 million euros.
The aforementioned assistance is broken down into the following services:
- Block 1: Drafting of a project that defines the actions to be carried out to completely remodel the terminal area of the Airport, with an amount of 5.7 million euros and a planned term of 26 months
- Block 2: It includes architectural advice to the construction management during the execution of the works, with a net amount of 0.6 million euros and a planned term of 57 months.
In addition to the files that are published today, the tender in the second half of 2022 for complementary actions of technical assistance for the baggage handling system and assistance to aircraft, for a planned amount of 1.7 million euros, which will be combined with the project drafting file, to achieve coordination in its execution and its result.
The total amount of the technical assistance for the project total reaches eight million euros, as Aena advanced in a meeting with the Council of Tenerife and economic and social agents of the island that took place in May. AENA is making a huge investment effort to turn this airport into a benchmark among its peers at an international level, offering modern infrastructures, consistent with the territory they serve and focused on quality, innovation and sustainability.
