The State Commercial Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segittur) has included the School of Sustainability of Cross portinitiative of the Sustainable City area, «among the 27 global success stories collected in its Guide to Good Sustainability Practices for Smart Tourist Destinationspresented this week.
Cross port appears recognized together with territories such as Australia, Azores, San Sebastian, Bhutan, Dubrovnik, Galapagos, Mallorca, Sidney, Thailand or the island of Tenerife itself as a benchmark destination in terms of sustainability, in order to serve as guidance and inspiration to other territories in some of the aspects addressed in the guide.
Of the seven challenges analyzed by Segittur, the School of Sustainability of Puerto de la Cruz It has been selected as a good practice for its work in communication and training in tourism sustainability. Its role as transmitter of the importance and benefits of sustainability to the local community has been valued, as well as its contribution to the effective communication of sustainability actions.

Caroline RodriguezCouncilor for Tourism Development, indicates that “due to the importance that this industry has for the development of our city in all areas, it was important to have a significant impact on the change of consciousness in the way of applying this model, turning the objective towards a sustainability that is essential both for citizens and for the tourist destination, and the joint work has yielded the expected results”.

The Sustainability School was launched in 2020 by the Puerto de la Cruz City Council with the collaboration of the Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation, within the framework of the municipal training and environmental awareness program Proactiv@s por Naturaleza.
