SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife, launches for the second consecutive year the campaign ‘Tenerife is yours’, aimed at the resident population on the island, offering activities and free guided tours through the historic centers and natural spaces of the island territory.
The island’s Director of Tourism, Laura Castro, explains that a total of 77 different routes and activities will be offered, in which some 1,500 people are expected to participate. Last year some thirty routes were organized in which some 500 people participated.
Castro points out in a note that “with this initiative, the aim is for the population to better understand the different corners and places of interest on the island and raise awareness of the environmental and heritage wealth of Tenerife.”
In this second edition, he continues, “from the Cabildo we continue to revalue the figure of the tourist guides integrated in the Association of Professional Tourism Guides of the island (APIT) and of the professionals of the active tourism companies integrated in the Charter for the Sustainability of Activities in Nature”.
For his part, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, indicates that this campaign is part of the ‘Biosphere’ sustainability strategy with which it seeks to “convey awareness of respect and conservation” for the environments.
“It is presented as an excellent opportunity, on the one hand, to rediscover our island, its natural and architectural heritage and, on the other, to learn about and appreciate the work of tour guides, who are so important in the tourism value chain,” he emphasizes.
This Friday opens the registration period for the first routes and activities, through the web www.tenerifeestuya.comwhich will be updated weekly with the aim of incorporating new itineraries and actions.
Interested people can choose between trails in the Anaga Rural Park, Teno Rural Park or Teide National Park, stargaze or spend a day on the zip lines of Forestal Park, on Mount La Esperanza.
They will also be able to sign up for themed cultural routes guided through the historic quarters of the municipalities of the northern and southern counties of the island.
In addition, many of the tours include lunches or tastings of local products and demonstrations of traditional activities.
The routes and offer of activities will be carried out especially during the weekends to favor citizen participation.
