The future project of an urban park in the Barranco de Lermes located in Los Gigantes contemplates the creation of more than 400 parking spaces using an approximate area of 6,000m².
It is an infrastructure of vital importance that would greatly alleviate the shortage of parking spaces as well as mobility in the area, apart from revitalizing said nucleus with the rest of the tourist and leisure actions that are contemplated in said ravine within the municipal strategy of improvement of the tourist and environmental competitiveness of the coastal front located in Los Gigantes-Puerto de Santiago.
The drafting of the project that has been awarded to the company EVMred and also includes urbanization, landscaping and building interventions for the rehabilitation of the access area to the beach and solarium (approximate surface area 2,000m²), the landscape regeneration of the slope, including itineraries connecting with the town and access to the park (approximate surface area 12,000m²), the rehabilitation of the bottom of the ravine for recreation and restoration programs (approximate surface area 6,500m²), and an open modal interchange that connects the leisure offers by means of a shuttle from the coast (approximate area 1,000m²).
The total scope of action has a total area of approximately 23,000m², and includes the environmental and landscape rehabilitation of the ravine for the implementation of tourist leisure activities, complemented by others aimed at improving the mobility of the town.
In addition, this place will become an urban green lung that, apart from essential natural areas, will have services, paths and equipment that facilitate sports practice and family entertainment, as well as vegetation arranged according to ecological and recreational use, such as trees that provide shade. in the rest areas, divisions and sections of bushes, etc. and viewpoints to enjoy the landscape.
