The PSOE of Arico alert that the bathing areas of the municipality «they lack lifeguards to ensure the safety of the neighbors and the neighbors of Arico as well as the thousands of people who each year choose the ariquera coast to enjoy during the summer period». The councilor and spokesperson for the PSOE of Arico, Olivia Delgado, assures that this situation, which they have repeatedly denounced, “repeats again.” Local government sources (formed by Primero Arico-PP-CC) they deny that this situation is repeated every year and assure that they are already working on the contracting formula for this service for the period of greatest influx of bathers, “which occurs in the months of August and September”.

“In Arico, the mayor and the government team improvise and that is something that we from the PSOE cannot allow because they are playing with the security of the citizens,” he maintains. Olivia Delgado. In his opinion, “the most unfortunate thing is that this situation is repeated because local leaders are unable to think and foresee a service that should be mandatory and scheduled.”

The local government regrets the opposition’s criticism and insists that they work to find a short-term solution

The Socialists denounce that the local government “still does not enable the security and emergency resources that must carry out their work in the bathing areas of Las Eras, El Porís, La Punta, Abades, La Jaca, Las Listadas, Tajao, La Caleta and Las Maretas». To this is added “the absence of something as vital as a system of flags to indicate the degree of danger of the sea and that can serve as a reference for bathers.”

Olivia Delgado recalls that the Diputación del Comun has also asked the Arico City Council on several occasions to incorporate security in its bathing areas, “and they have not received any type of response from the Consistory, as well as information about the safety and rescue plan for beaches and bathing areas in relation to a complaint from the PSOE». The local government regrets the opposition’s criticism and insists that they are working to find a short-term solution.
