SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 14. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Governing Council has been informed this Thursday that the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security has granted 7,609,077.22 euros, in the first half of 2022, to the Bar Associations and the Attorney General’s Office of the islands, for the provision of free legal aid and office shift.

In some cases, these are actions carried out in the fourth quarter of 2021, as has happened with the Lanzarote Bar Association, which has received, for this concept, 370,360.87 euros; the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Bar Association, 1,867,200.93 euros; the Santa Cruz de La Palma Bar Association, 206,720.68 euros; the College of Attorneys of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 297,585 euros; and the College of Attorneys of Las Palmas, 240,414 euros.

In others, due to the actions in the ex officio shift and the free legal assistance of the first quarter of 2022.

Thus, the Bar Association of Lanzarote has been granted 289,864.80 euros and that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1,793,254.78 euros.

For the same concept, the College of Attorneys of Las Palmas has been given 279,123 euros; and that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 288,048 euros.

The grants awarded also include operating and infrastructure costs derived from free legal assistance.

For this reason and corresponding to the year 2022, the Lanzarote Bar Association has been granted 121,584.10 euros; that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 770,323.38 euros and that of Las Palmas, 853,846.38 euros. In the same way, the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been granted 124,905.90 euros and that of Las Palmas, 105,845.40 euros.

To the amount of 7,609,077.22 euros must be added the 2,083,430.33 authorized by the Governing Council, on May 20, for the Las Palmas Bar Association for the free legal assistance corresponding to the first quarter of 2022 .

As it was an amount greater than two million euros, it had to have this authorization in order to continue with its processing, the Government highlights in a note.

MEDIATION SERVICE

The Governing Council has also been informed of a subsidy of 75,000 euros granted, in the second quarter of this year, to the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, for the establishment of a Mediation Service in the judicial districts of the province, with the aim of favoring the best functioning of the Administration of Justice.

The purpose of the subsidy is to establish a mediation project between users of the ex officio shift and lawyers, a mediation orientation service and intrajudicial and extrajudicial mediation in the Civil, Commercial and Administrative Litigation fields, in the judicial districts of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Mediation is a voluntary procedure, in which a third party, duly accredited, called a mediator, informs, guides and assists, without their own decision-making power, the parties in conflict, in order to facilitate channels of dialogue and the search for these of fair, lasting and stable agreements, in order to avoid the approach of contentious legal proceedings, put an end to those already started or reduce their scope.
