New chapter of embarrassment on a flight headed to Canary Islands. A VeasyJet flight that covered the route between Liverpool and Tenerife had to be diverted to Lisbon. The cause of the plane having to stop in the Portuguese capital was a couple who caused disturbances on the flight after “drinking too much”, smoking in the toilets AND urinating on the seats.
According to the English tabloid, ‘Liverpool Echo’, one passenger called the flight “the flight from hell”. This man, who was waiting for his first vacation since the start of Covid-19, saw the beginning of his well-deserved rest cut short by these troublemakers who were arrested on Portuguese soil.
The plane left the John Lennon International Airport, Liverpoolwithout major problem.
“We were having a good time and then sometime in the middle of the flight a couple was obviously drinking too much.”commented this 49-year-old tourist.
The pilot, through the public address system, insisted that one could not drink alcoholic beverages or smoke in the bathroom.
Subsequently, the behavior of these individuals forced the crew to close the bathroom in the rear of the aircraft because they found cigarette butts in the toilet.
“Ten minutes later, the pilot said we would land in Lisbon; the woman began kicking and threatening other passengers. There was quite a commotion on the plane.”commented the tourist.
Finally, the woman was arrested and removed from the plane by the Portuguese authorities.
The passengers did not get off the plane and had to wait an hour and a half to take off again. But at that moment a man, “almost in an ethyl coma”wanted to go to the toilet and, after being prevented by the crew, he urinated on his own seat”, narrates Hans Mahrla. “When we arrived on the island we all applauded, the flight to Tenerife had been a real nightmare”commented one of the passengers on the flight.
The company has acknowledged the facts, announcing that they will continue not to tolerate “any attitude that I suppose a danger” inside one of their planes, as in this case, with two individuals.
