SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 12. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has registered seven new cases and four under study for possible diagnosis of monkeypox since yesterday, so since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 78 confirmed cases, of which 51 detected in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 78 confirmed cases, 51 in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura; three probable cases, pending confirmation, notified in Gran Canaria, and three suspected cases, pending confirmation, two registered in Tenerife and one in Lanzarote.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
