The PP spokeswoman in the Güímar City Council, Carmen Luisa Castro, announced yesterday that she will demand the holding of an extraordinary plenary session “in order to execute the sentence that declares the salaries of the mayors of Güímar and two of their lieutenants null. of mayor”, something that, according to her, the mayors of IU and CS will also do.
Castro appeared at a press conference, together with the lawyer and councilor of the PP in Candelaria Andrés Rodríguez, to assess the details of this sentence, known on Thursday, where, he announced, he will request that the four members of the government group return the money collected “improperly ” from July 2021, in total, about 168,000 euros, not counting interest and Social Security.
The popular spokeswoman explained that “the sentence is clear and gives us the reason regarding the infraction committed with the change of Mayor’s Office agreed by CC and PSOE in their government pact. With the relief, the new mayor, Gustavo Pérez, had to submit to the Plenary a new proposal for functions and remuneration, something that never happened.
Castro clarified that the sentence alludes to the salaries of the current alderman, Gustavo Pérez, since his inauguration; of the previous mayor, the socialist Airam Puerta, from the moment of his dismissal; of Cándido Gómez, since his dismissal as deputy mayor, and of Juan Delgado, since his appointment as deputy mayor, understanding that his dedication and remuneration have no legal protection.
For this reason, the popular spokesperson trusts that “sooner rather than later the Government group will present the corresponding resolution to the Plenary on the exclusive dedication and remuneration regimes of the mayors and deputy mayors, and that, this time, they remember that they cannot set a partial dedication of 95% as they have been doing until now, because we would be facing an exclusive dedication in law fraud”.
The current alderman, Gustavo Pérez, said yesterday that “the municipal legal services are analyzing the content of the sentence. For a formal aspect and as can be deduced from the sentence itself, two payrolls of the mayor and first deputy mayor corresponding to the months of July and August 2021 have been annulled, and one and a half payrolls of two other councilors from the Government group. Legal services are assessing what is appropriate. As it is a rectifiable issue, they are already working on the appeal that will be filed against the aforementioned sentence, ”he said.
