SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has recorded two new cases and three under study for a possible diagnosis of monkeypox since Friday, so since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 71 confirmed cases, of which 45 were detected in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 71 confirmed cases, 45 in Gran Canaria, 25 in Tenerife and one in Fuerteventura; four probable cases, pending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria and another in Fuerteventura, and two suspected cases, pending confirmation, one registered in Gran Canaria and another in Lanzarote.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
