SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, has ended the maximum alert situations for maximum temperatures in Gran Canaria and the alert for this same phenomenon in the rest of the Archipelago, remaining in a pre-alert situation in the Canary Islands until Starting at 6:00 p.m. today, Monday.
This decision is made taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
In a pre-alert situation, it is estimated that there is no meteorological risk for the population in general, although there is for some specific activity or location of high vulnerability. The notice to the Cabildos, municipalities and other institutions is maintained so that their emergency personnel continue to be warned, in the face of a possible change in the meteorological phenomenon, until the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies considers the declared situation to be over based on the PEFMA.
Maximum temperatures may exceed 30ºC, especially in Fuerteventura, the southern, eastern and western slopes of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, the metropolitan area, as well as the southern and western midlands of La Gomera and El Hierro. There may still be areas in the interior of the islands with high minimum temperatures (20-25ºC).
