SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 9. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has signed a collaboration agreement for the rehabilitation of 819 homes in the municipalities of Santa Cruz and La Laguna (381 in the Añaza neighborhood and 438 in the El Cardonal urbanization), in which the Island Corporation will participate with a total contribution of 2 million euros.
The agreement, which will involve a global investment of more than 34 million, has the support of the Governments of Spain and the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, as well as both municipalities involved.
The island’s president, Pedro Martín, explained that these actions will prioritize people in situations of social and economic vulnerability “and will guarantee that the houses meet minimum conditions of habitability, safety and accessibility, but also sustainability and energy efficiency.”
Pedro Martín stressed that through this agreement the Cabildo continues to strengthen its collaboration with the municipalities and “providing an answer to the families who need it most, who have been waiting too long for the necessary reforms to improve their quality of life and guarantee them a home. worthy”.
The island councilor for Municipal Cooperation and Housing, Zebenzuí Chinea, explained that this agreement is part of the aid program for rehabilitation actions at the neighborhood level, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the European Union, through the Next Generation funds.
Thus, he explained that in the Añaza neighborhood an investment of 13,219,338 euros is contemplated and the rehabilitation of 381 homes, in which it is expected to achieve a reduction in energy consumption of more than 60 percent. The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda will contribute 10,287,162 euros (from Next Generation European funds), the Island Corporation one million euros, and the City Council of Santa Cruz 1,408,301 euros, divided into three annuities (2023- 2025).
In the El Cardonal urbanization, the investment will exceed 21 million euros and 438 homes will be rehabilitated. On this occasion, the Ministry will contribute 10,973,299 euros, the Cabildo one million and the City Council of La Laguna 9,032,508 euros, divided into four annuities (2023-2026).
In this line, Chinea wanted to remember that, before the end of the summer, the Cabildo will begin to execute the Insular Housing Rehabilitation Program 2022, approved in May and endowed with more than one million euros.
