SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 8. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Agents of the National Police have arrested a fugitive in Santa Cruz de Tenerife who had an international arrest warrant filed by the Venezuelan authorities for illicit association and crime against public health.
According to the Red Notice issued by the Venezuelan judicial authorities, the fugitive was related to the possession of illicit chemical substances presumably destined for drug trafficking, specifically about 18,000 kilos of hydrochloric acid. This crime, committed in concert with other people, is punishable under Venezuelan law with a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The first police efforts revealed that the fugitive could be found in the capital of Tenerife. Upon being located, the agents carried out a series of international cooperation efforts with the Venezuelan authorities that allowed them to verify the identity of the fugitive and proceed to arrest him after eleven years on the run.
