Fred. Olsen Express celebrates today, July 8, 2022, 48 years at the service of canaries and travelers offering quality maritime transport. Since the beginning of its routes, the shipping company has moved between islands to 80,350,000 passengers.
The company has transported in this almost half century of trajectory more than 13 million vehicles and three million cargo units.

The Gomera Ferry
The shipping company currently operates 6 routes in the Archipelago and makes an average of 60 trips between islands every day with 9 ships in service; in addition to a line with the Peninsula, with 2 weekly frequencies between SC de Tenerife, Las Palmas de GC and Huelva. Among the connections with the highest demand, the Tenerife – La Gomera route stands out with more than 33 million since 1974, year of start of the first line of inter-island maritime traffic of passengers, vehicles and rolled cargo; Tenerife – Gran Canaria, with a total of 23 million passengers since its inception in 1994; the connection between Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Corralejo in Fuerteventura with more than 13 million passengers, as well as the maritime lines between Gran Canaria-Fuerteventura and Tenerife-La Palma, with 5.7 and 4 million respectively.
The company has a workforce of 880 employees and is also an important generator of indirect employment through contracts for various services such as maintenance, ground transportation, cleaning, catering, among others.

Olsen SA, Andrés Marín, recalls the beginnings of the shipping company in the Archipelago: «we began to make history at the beginning of the 20th century when, from La Gomera, the Olsen family created a maritime route based on the export of tomatoes and bananas to Europe, from their own crops south of Colombina Island.
