SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 6. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC nº 133, of July 6, 2022) the call for subsidies for the improvement of supply and reduction of losses in networks of small and medium municipalities within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The regional councilor responsible for the Area, José Antonio Valbuena, explained that “more than 5.7 million euros will be allocated to investments in supply systems to improve efficiency, reduce losses in distribution networks and repair and improvement of collection, deposits and purification facilities in small and medium-sized municipalities, which will translate into significant savings in water and energy, and in a better guarantee of supply”.

The eligible projects through the call must have as their object works specifically aimed at the improvement and renovation of local supply systems that serve small and medium-sized municipalities (catchment, adduction and transport, deposits, water treatment plants and distribution networks) and those directed to the reduction of losses in the networks of said supply systems, savings in water consumption and/or increase in the guarantee of supply.

Specifically, the works must refer to local supply systems that serve municipalities with a population of less than 20,000 inhabitants, and the actions must have the commitment of the administration that owns the system with the execution of the project and the subsequent exploitation of the works, as well as its conservation and maintenance.

The beneficiary entities of the aid will be the competent ones in terms of supply in each territorial area, in accordance with the broad concept established by the regulatory bases of the call, which provide various formulas to consider that said competition exists.

Entities interested in applying for these aid lines may submit their applications between July 7 and September 7, 2022.

Considering that the possible beneficiaries are only legal entities, they must do so through the procedure of the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands: https://sede.gobiernodecanarias.org/sede/procedimientos_serv….

Applications may refer to projects started as of February 1, 2020, and in any case the actions to be financed must have been executed in more than 50% of the planned investment on December 31, 2023, and fully completed before December 31, 2024.

The eligible object that is included in the applications for the call must meet the specific requirements applicable to the Next Generation EU funds and that are detailed in the bases and the applicable regulations.

The call is governed by the competitive concurrence system, establishing the bases and criteria for awarding them. Applications will be assessed, applying these criteria, by an assessment commission made up of personnel assigned to the provisional units created in the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, for the management of the Next Funds Generation EU assigned to this department.
