SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 5. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has submitted to the Government of the Canary Islands the file relating to the modification of the delimitation of the Property of Cultural Interest, with the category of Historical Ensemble, called the Hotel District-Pino de Oro, in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, once the public information hearing processes have been completed last May.
“We have taken an important step in relation to this matter that contemplates the extension of the Property of Cultural Interest and that will affect, among other properties, the Santa Cruz Bullring, by sending the file for the delimitation of this Property to the Government of the Canary Islands. “, pointed out the insular director of Heritage, Emilio Fariña, who added that it is now the regional institution in charge of resolving the BIC expansion file.
The Barrio de los Hoteles-Pino de Oro Asset of Cultural Interest was declared as such in 2007, and it is in 2020 when the file for its expansion is resumed by the Cabildo. This document contemplates the inclusion in the delimitation of the area of elements as characteristic of the city as the Plaza de Toros, the Hotel Mencey and the Captaincy, among others.
A detailed analysis of the heritage and urban characteristics of the BIC point to the need to modify it to provide more architectural precision to the complex and to include in it a group of representative buildings of the architectural typologies that were developed on the island between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th.
In addition, the historical atmosphere of this historical urban space will be reinforced, by including the building of the Captaincy General, the Maestranza, the Artillery Park, together with the Intendancy building, the work of Antonio Pintor.
