SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 5. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Command of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have instructed proceedings in which they investigate the owners of four dental prosthesis laboratories for practicing as dentists without qualifications.
The investigation began after the complaint filed by the Official College of Dentists of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in which it was made known that four prosthetic laboratories located in different parts of the island were performing certain services illegally, since the exercise of the same can only be carried out by qualified dentists and in those cases they lacked said title.
In the complaint, the Official College of Dentists provided the necessary evidence in which this type of prohibited practice was evidenced in the aforementioned laboratories and that can only be carried out by dentists.
Once the laboratories affected by the complaint, located in Cabo Blanco, Taco, La Orotava and Los Realejos, were located, the Civil Guard carried out the relevant inspections unexpectedly, thus being able to carry out the necessary checks. Officials belonging to the Labor and Social Security Inspection of Santa Cruz de Tenerife also participated in the inspection, who proceeded to verify the legal status of the laboratory workers.
Finally, the agents of the Civil Guard have instructed proceedings in which they investigate the owners of the inspected laboratories for an alleged crime of professional intrusion, when practicing as dentists and in an establishment open to the public, lacking qualifications, required permits, with the lack of necessary training for this, with the consequent risk to the health of patients and that according to the provisions of article 403 of the Penal Code, may be punished with a prison sentence of six months to two years (article 403.1 and 403.2 of the Penal Code).
