The Ministry of Health of Canary Islands Government confirmed this Monday seven new cases and three under study for possible diagnosis of monkey pox since last Friday. Therefore, from the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there is 60 confirmed cases, of which 40 were detected in Gran Canaria and 20 in Tenerife.
All cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
A) Yes, confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands from the beginning of the alert and until today they are as follows:
– 60 confirmed cases, 40 in Gran Canaria and 20 in Tenerife.
– Five probable cases, pending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria and two in Tenerife.
– A suspicious case, pending confirmation, registered in Gran Canaria.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
