An intellectual property office will ensure the protection of digital culture. This was announced yesterday by the general director of cultural industries of the Government of Spain, Adriana Moscosoduring his speech at the inauguration of the Music Digital Rights Seminar which took place in the Sala Insular de Teatro.
With this meeting began the first day of the fifth edition of the South Atlantic Performing Arts Market, Maps, of which Gran Canaria will host the musical part until this Wednesday the 6th with activities in different parts of the island, while Tenerife will do so from the 7th to the 9th with the leading role of the performing arts. Previously, the co-director of Maps intervened, Octavio Arbelaez, who presented the Seminar as “an update on this new changing reality that is transforming at a dizzying pace, especially in the music industry”. Finally, Jordi Puy, CEO of the independent music rights management operator Unison, who also coordinated the seminar, spoke. Puy pointed out that “the goal is to share knowledge with all world experts and strengthen ties between continents” and continued with the first pitch about Unison’s experience as a company in charge of managing music rights.
The first table dealt with Platforms and territories addressing the particularities and trends of content in Africa and Latin America and Southern Europe. The second pitch was carried out by Capaso, copyright and licensing agency in South Africa. While Gustavo González, from the Brazilian Association of Music and Arts, Abramus, began the third and final pitch by introducing the Latin market. Next, the third table focused on The Web3: the non-fungible and digital property, present and future. This first day concluded with the networking La Papá Arrugá. Thus, with typical Canarian products, programmers from the seven islands had the opportunity to meet international distributors. Today’s session moves to the Miller building where, between 10:00 and 14:00, a business conference for programmers and artists is held.
And from 5:00 p.m. until after midnight, with free admission, there will be eleven concerts with musical proposals from Senegal, Mexico, Nigeria, United Kingdom or Argentina.
