The young villager Maria Jose Gomez was chosen last weekend Miss North 2022at a gala with twenty applicants, directed by Sandro Pergolawhich developed in Franchy Alfaro Square. The new Miss North is 19 years old and is from the area of Las Dehesasin the municipality of La Orotava. According to the organization of this beauty pageant, she «she is studying a higher course in Sociocultural and Tourist Animation, as a previous step to achieve her aspiration of becoming a ship stewardess».
This year’s gala was a light and sound show, in a unique setting such as Plaza Franchy Alfaro, where the parades of the applicants and the projection of audiovisual material with images of La Orotava, starring the candidates themselves. The crown went to Maria Jose Gomez (representing the City Council of La Orotava). The court of honor was made up that night by Melissa Leon (Restaurant Paso del Teide), as first maid of honor and Cynthia Martin (City Hall of Santa Úrsula), as second.
In the audience, numerous mayors and councilors from the collaborating municipalities. The performances were carried out exclusively by female voices: Isabel Gonzalez, Beatriz Martin, and Laura Henriquez.
