The plenary session of the City Council of Candelaria approved the tender specifications for the waste collection service, street cleaning and the municipality’s coastline. The new conditions seek to provide the municipality with a service adapted to the current population and the needs of the citizens of Candelaria. The contest will be to award the service for 7 years for 21.7 million euros, at a rate of 3.1 million euros per year. This new contract will mean “a leap in quality in the collection of waste and in the cleaning of the municipality, incorporating the latest technology in machinery and promoting the separation and recycling of waste,” says the government group in a statement.

In this sense, the collection of the organic fraction, the fifth container, is incorporated into the service and it is committed to promoting self-composting through specific awareness plans, undertaking management in the collection of light packaging, paper and cardboard, used textiles , household oils, cells and batteries, electrical appliances, household goods and out-of-use vehicles. A mobile ecopoint will also be incorporated that will rotate through the municipality to facilitate the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
