All unions with representation in the Arona Town Hall and in their public organisms they agreed yesterday with the municipal government the creation of its own structure, with material and human resources, for the Housing areawhich until now depended on general services, with the aim of promoting public policies in this area.
The agreement was adopted unanimously within the framework of the General Board of Public Employees of the Arona City Council and its Autonomous Bodies and will allow a reorganization that will soon have to go to the Municipal Plenary, where it will be submitted to the decision of the political groups. All this is part of one of the axes of the municipal government which, in line with the strategies proposed by the different institutions, seeks to promote public housing in the municipality with the search for different formulas. In fact, in recent months various contacts have been maintained with organizations dependent on the Government of the Canary Islands, such as the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI) or Visocan.
The spokesman for the municipal government, Leopoldo Díaz Oda, stressed that “public housing has been practically paralyzed in recent years in the Canary Islands.” «The intention of the Arona City Council, with the unanimous support of the union forces, is to adopt measures to reverse this situation through different formulas and that is why this agreement to modify the Job List has been adopted, which For consistency, we hope that it will be supported by all the representatives of the Plenary”, he detailed. “No other position can be contemplated,” concluded Leopoldo Díaz.
