The City Council of Granadilla de Abona takes today to the plenary the signing of the agreement and the assignment and making available to the Canary Government Housing Institute regional development of two municipally owned plots for the construction of public housing for the most vulnerable families in the municipality.

Specifically, the land allocated for this purpose is located in the Cuevas de Cho Portada Partial Plan, in San Isidro, with an extension of 2,772.26 meters, and in the area of the Poncela action unit, in San Isidro, with 536 square meters.

The mayor, José Domingo Regalado, highlights the important demand in this regard in the municipality, motivated by the population increase, the shortage of properties of this nature and the different stages of economic, social and health crisis in recent decades.

In June 2020, the start of the assignment procedures was approved in plenary, notifying the Government of the Canary Islands so that this administration could dispose of this municipal public land as soon as possible for the creation of publicly promoted housing. On May 5, 2022, the City Council was informed that both plots were declared suitable for their purpose of promoting public housing, sending at the same time the agreement document that will be taken to today’s plenary session for approval.
