The Cabildo continues with the improvement of the green areas attached to the roads of the Island. It does so with an action on the TF-1, at the height of the link to Playa de las Américas, in the municipality of Arona. The island councilor for the Roads area, Enrique Arriaga, recalls that the Island Corporation has a budget of 3,573,611 euros this year 2022 to condition the aesthetics and sustainability of the landscaping of publicly owned island roads.

The Cabildo published last February the tender for conservation services and landscape improvement of the green areas of the island roads. They are divided into three lots corresponding to the North, South and Metropolitan areas. The total amount of the contract for three years is 8,122,121 euros.

The one for the southern area, to the joint venture made up of Zona Verde GC SLU and Hardisson Jardinería SL, worth 3,943,545 euros, while the one for the metropolitan area has a tendered budget of 1,224,964 euros and has been awarded to Seanto SL. Roads, continues with the work to improve the island’s green areas. A few days ago these works began on the side of the TF-1, at kilometer point 73,250, at the Playa de Las Américas junction in the municipality of Arona .

The Minister of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains: “The objective is to condition the aesthetics and sustainability of the gardens on the margins of the Island’s roads.” Arriaga indicates that “the works planned in Arona comprise an area of more than 15,000 square meters. To carry out these tasks there is a period of two months and a budget of 87,139 euros has been allocated.

Comprehensive performance

In addition, the island director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, details that “an integral shock action is carried out with the elimination of invasive plant species, the clearing and cleaning of surfaces. Likewise, the reclaimed water connection and the installation of the irrigation system for the plantations will be carried out”.

The landscape model that is carried out in the corridor of the TF-1 combines the planting of native species with inert materials such as rough stone that contribute to the containment of the substrate and add volume to the whole. Arriaga explains that the global contract covers a period of three years with more than one and a half million square meters in the North, South and Metropolitan areas.

The also insular vice president adds that the Cabildo intends to extend this model of sustainable green areas to the rest of the margins and elements of the roads it manages, given that there are spaces that require landscape improvement, such as landscaped areas that are currently not covered in roundabouts, islets or medians and that are scattered along the road network in metropolitan areas where various services converge.
